Therapy is a stepping stone.

When we try to make sense out of things that happened during our early years, we develop beliefs that are often quite negative, such as “I am not loveable” or “I can’t trust people to take care of me.” Many people who find their way into therapy have been living with unconscious negative beliefs that shape how they see themselves and their capabilities. Psychotherapy is thus a stepping stone—a way to consciously update old beliefs to better reflect who you are today, and carve the new direction in which you want to grow.

Begin creating change today—notice your challenges and joys, fears and dreams, memories and hopes, painful emotions, and limiting beliefs. It is so important to explore these things without negative judgments about right or wrong, good and bad. Instead, engaging in this exploration with curiosity allows you to understand and care more deeply for yourself. This approach creates a safe environment for growth, a stepping stone from “up until now” to “from now on.”

Laurie’s intention in her practice is to help people develop and expand their self-awareness, understanding, and compassion, thus offering her clients the opportunity to become more self-reliant. This awareness empowers one to live life with a broad range of choices, and develop the personal power to make decisions out of conscious consideration rather than unconscious habit.
